Fit People Are Working Later in Life

A new report has shown that fit people are more likely to be working later in life. The AMP.NASEM Income and Wealth Report revealed 59% of full time male workers aged 60-64 are in excellent or very good health, as are 58% of women.

As we know, some of the fittest workers in this country are our tradies – and it isn’t any wonder, we all know sitting behind a desk doesn’t do you any favours, but physical work keeps tradesmen fit, healthy and agile.

However, if you’re a self-employed tradie working later in life or planning to; it’s imperative you have the right cover to protect yourself and your business.

Personal accident and illness cover for tradies

While people are finding the can continue to work later in life and the idea of retirement is changing for many Australians, one thing we can’t escape are the effects of aging on our bodies. Even the fittest and healthiest tradesmen may become a little more accident prone, or a little slower on their feet than they once were and that’s where personal accident and illness cover is there to help out small business owners working later in life.

Personal accident and illness insurance covers you for injuries sustained on the job, off the job and for insured illnesses. So regardless of whether you fall off a ladder on the job and break a leg, fall over in the shower and break a hip or fall ill with pneumonia, you’ll be covered. This means your insurer will provide the funds to cover your business bills and expenses as well as pay you an income while you’re recovering from your injury or illness, offering you financial stability at a point in your life when you need it the most.

Other insurances to consider

While you’ll still endeavour to operate your business within the safest possible way, adhering to all regulations and procedures, as you get older you may find your mind isn’t quite as sharp as it used to be, and your hands aren’t as quick either. Public liability insurance has your back if a simple mistake on your part causes injury to a member of the public such as a client or another trades’ business worker or your business activities result in damage to property. Expenses like this are not an option for small business owners, so it’s important to make sure you have the right cover. At All Trades Cover you can get public liability insurance for up to $50 million for your business.

Regardless of whether you’re young or old, healthy or unhealthy if you’re a business owner in the trades industries, you should have the right cover to ensure your business can continue to run effectively and fruitfully.
